My English teaching experience
I’ve been teaching adults in Taiwan for almost eight years now. Whoa, how time flies when you are having fun!

Teaching English at Compass
As a foreigner living in Taiwan, working at Compass is a great experience because I have the chance to learn about Taiwan’s people and culture by sharing conversations with Taiwanese people.

Learning tips to ESL learners
Besides having conversations in English, reading is one of the best ways to improve your English ability. I’m not saying read inside of your head, I’m saying read out loud! Reading develops fluency, increases vocabulary, and introduces different and interesting topics.


我在台灣教授英文已約8年的時間了。我認為這段時間飛逝的相當快，也許是因為我很陶醉在其中吧。

身為一位外籍人士，能夠在康培士英語工作是一件非常棒的事，因為在這個完善的英文環境下，我可以透過學員們的討論過程學習到許多台灣人與文化。

給學員的學習建議：

除了多用英文、多說英文之外，另一個很好的語言學習方式就是閱讀英文文章。我不是指光用你的腦來閱讀喔，閱讀時請記得要大聲的把字唸出來！大聲唸出口的閱讀方式可以培養個人口說的流暢度，增加英文字彙，並且同時讓讀者學習到不同事物和議題。

My English Teaching Experience:
I have taught English to adults for a combined four years. I have also cooperated with local business to improve their English communications.

Teaching English at Compass:
I feel an ideal lesson involves both instruction and practice. I find most students to be motivated and curious, and these qualities really help our students succeed in improving their English skills. It’s my pleasure to assist in that goal.

Learning tips to ESL learners:
Pretend you are not a local and go to a business or service office that has people who speak English. Do some business with them, or, at least pretend to. You’ll be amazed how fast your English improves when you need to use it in a practical situation.

我在台灣有4年的英語教學經驗。我也有和一些台灣企業做英語教學上的合作經驗。我認為一堂理想的課程必須有完善的教導和練習。我發現大部份的學生都很有行動力和好奇心，而這些特質皆可協助學生成功的改善自己的英文能力。能協助同學們達到他們的目標是讓我開心的一件事。

給學員的學習建議：
假裝自己不是本地人，到附近的公司場所或是服務處找會說英文的人和你聊天，用英文談生易，或假裝自己不是當地人。你會發現自己在這種對話過程中進步神速。當你遇到迫切需要用英文時你便能進步得更快。
 

My English teaching experience
I have been an elementary teaching assistant in Canada for Five years. I have also been a dance teacher for two years. I am best known at Compass English for my love of music, dance and getting my students to speak up in class.

My teaching philosophy is every student needs to be responsible for their own learning. I believe the best way to improve your English is to speak up as much as possible, and to really take advantage of your time in the classroom.

Learning tips to ESL learners
It is important to ask your teacher question to ensure that you understand the material.There are many opportunities to learn new things everyday if students are willing to put for the effort. This includes practicing English outside the classroom with your friends, family and other classmates.

在加拿大時我曾在小學擔任5年的助教，也曾擔任過2年的舞蹈老師。在康培士的學員都知道我熱愛音樂，舞蹈。在班上也常常鼓勵學生大聲的把英文說出口。
 

我的教學哲學很簡單，就是希望每個學生都能對自己的學習負責任。我相信英文要進步最重要的就是要盡量多練習說，以及珍惜在教室內上課的學習時間。

給學員的學習建議：

在課堂上若有不懂的，一定要問問題! 若學員每天努力學習，就會發現每天都是學習新事物的機會。以上不僅是在教室內的學習，當然還包括在教室外和朋友，家人以及其它同學的的英文互動練習。

My English teaching experience
I’m Aaron, and I’m from Canada. I’ve been teaching English for over six years, first in China and now in Taiwan. I enjoy the experience of idea and culture exchange that comes with it.

Teaching English at Compass
The Compass experience can best be summed up by the word immersion. We offer an environment where you can focus on English all day if you choose to. I think this environment, where we speak English inside and outside of the classrooms helps students begin to formulate their own style of English and gives them the practice they need to retain their new skills.

Learning tips to ESL learners
The best tip that I can give to language learners is: practice, practice, practice! Only by practicing and reusing what we learn in the classroom will our new vocabulary and skills stick with us for future use.


我來自加拿大，在大陸和台灣教授英文已有5年。我非常喜歡和學員在教室內產生互動，透過英文教學課程，我和學員能彼此更深入的了解各自的文化。

康培士英語的最大教學特色是專注與深入。在這你可以給自己一個全天說英文的環境，不論是在教室內透過顧問的教授內容，或是教室外與老師或同學間的互動。在這環境下可提供學員們培養屬於自己英文口語表達能力的空間。課後在下課之餘，學員也可以透過不同的方式，將英文運用在生活中，讓語言的技能發揮得更加極致。

給學員的學習建議：
語言一定是熟能生巧！只有透過不斷的練習與運用新單字和技巧可以讓你的英文學習更完整。

My English teaching experience
I’m from a very small town in Virginia, USA. I taught writing skills and essay preparation in my university’s writing center, and I went to South Korea to teach after my graduation. I taught in South Korea for a year and a half before coming to Taiwan.

Teaching English at Compass
Being an ESL teacher has allowed me to learn about different cultures and get to know many people from around the world! I love helping people become excited about the language learning process and become confident in their own abilities. I believe supportive and encouraging classroom environments are very important for ESL students!

Learning tips to ESL learners
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! It is much better to speak and make a mistake than to not speak at all. As long as you are trying your best and putting effort into your own language learning, you will definitely improve!

我來自維吉尼亞州，美國。我曾在大學的文學寫作中心教寫作技巧和論文撰寫課程。
大學畢業後到韓國教書，一年半後的現在我來到了台灣。

身為ESL老師允許我學習到許多不同的文化，認識許多來自世界各地的人!我非常
熱愛激發學生對語言學習的動力並且輔助他們完成語言學習過程，給學習者信心。
我相信充滿輔助和鼓勵的學習環境，對ESL學生來說是相當重要的。

不要害怕犯錯！開口說錯英文總比不說出口來得好。只要努力的學習一個語言，你一定會進步！
